The Basics with Asics

March 19, 2018

I recently purchased a pair of running shoes and shared them on TALL District’s Instagram page. I asked followers what shoes they preferred when working out. Someone mentioned ASICS. I must admit I’ve been pretty committed to one or two brands and was a bit skeptical of ASICS but curious enough to try them. So I ran to Nordstrom Rack (I love this store) and what do ya know they had a pair in my size (11). The pattern wasn’t hideous and the price was right. It didn’t hurt that the shoes had the colors purple (my fave color), and orange (part of my alma mater colors #FAMU).

I tested the ASICS Gel Excite’s during a Cross Box (high interval cross training with boxing infused) class at my fave cross fit gym in Chicago, Fit Results in the South Loop.

Did a little running as well.

So how do the shoes feel?

I liked the support. It had much more ‘sole’ support than my current gym shoes which is nice given the foot movement involved in boxing. I also like that they are not heavy.

Now the breathable mesh is a gift and a curse. Lol. It was great in the gym, but it was not so great during the very cold walk from the gym to the juice bar a few blocks away.

Perk: These shoes are available up to a size 12.

Where red can you find them?

Nordstrom Rack – $49.97, click here

Zappos – $63, click here
