Henderick’s love for house music is evident in his monthly house music write-up titled ‘Thelonious Funk’s Monthly Report‘ which is all about quality music and quality talent from around the globe.  The write-up consists of a brief recap and a selection of house music compiled into a playlist available via Mix Cloud. I am actually jamming to it right now. If you know me, you know that house music and I are not the best of friends. We’re more like acquaintances that acknowledge each others presence when we’re in the same room. So my jamming is significant and an ode to Henderick’s stellar DJ’g ability as is evident via the internet radio show in Europe he is a DJ for.

When Henderick is not listening to music he’s at work where he is a health plan advisor, dancing, and/or spending time with his beautiful wife.

HEIGHT SOURCE:

What side of your family did you get your height from?
Most likely from my mother’s side of the family.

Are both of your parents Tall?
My mom is 5’ 10” & my father is roughly the same height.

Are all of your siblings Tall?
My brother on my mom’s side of the family is over 6′ feet tall & he’s only 18. My other siblings are still either in Junior high or approaching High School.

Were you always Tall or did you have a noticeable growth spurt?
I think I have always been taller. Even when I was a baby according to my mother (9lbs 4 oz)

If you had a growth spurt what age were you and how did that impact your daily life?
Not much of an impact…

When did you OWN your height?
When I was in my early 20’s. This was when I started teaching Brazilian dance (Samba & Forro) along with DJing. I had no choice but to own it.

Did your friends of family encourage you to own your height?
Well my mother was never short on confidence. LOL! So it is a combo of that along with having a bit of an ego as an artist. If you do not believe in yourself how can anyone take you seriously? However you have to know when to turn that ego off. LOL!

Is there a specific Tall person you look(ed) up to?
No.

Did you always like your height?
I have always been fine with my height. I feel that being tall commands attention.

INEVITABLE QUESTIONS RELATED TO HEIGHT

Did you or do you play any sports?
I played baseball, volleyball & basketball in high school my freshman year but due to health issues I had to quit.

Are you a model? Have you ever modeled?
Not a model. Too tall to be one. However I’ve done a couple of modeling shows when I was younger. Nothing more.

PROFESSION

Profession?
Hmm profession for right or left brain? Well for my left brain (repetitive side) my day job is a health plan advisor in downtown Chicago. For my right brain (creative side) I am the DJ radio host of a weekly & monthly internet radio show in Europe.

Title:
Health Plan Advisor/ DJ/Radio Host

Job Description:
Day job providing health care for people across the country. My night job is
producing a weekly & monthly show focused on various underground electronic sounds by
talented artists around the globe. All about quality talent out there…

What lead you to your profession?
For my weekly & monthly shows, I originally did a weekly show for Swank Society Radio in Chicago back in ‘07. A friend of mine told me about this website owned by Timo Rotonen in Helsinki, Finland called deeprhythms.com. He really felt that my sound as a DJ would go well with that site. So I just sent Timo a link to my weekly shows that I did here in Chicago for a couple of years until he finally decided to contact me to do a guest mix. I took a step further & offered to do a monthly show for him. The response to the monthly show was so overwhelming that I decided to move the show over to deeprhythms. The rest is history.

Professional Goals
Continue to put a 100% into what I do without it interfering with my duties as a husband. Your job comes & goes. I work to live not the other way around & I must enjoy what I do to give me balance as a human being.

More About Henderick:

What would you like people to know about you?
I want people to know that the job I chose for my 9-5pm helps people. I’ve been very conscious of that for the past 5-6 years. If it does not truly help people then I should not be involved. For my artistic job I want to be that extra voice for the artists that I’ve played on my show. If I have introduced the listeners to an artist they have never heard of before then I have done my job with my weekly & monthly shows. If you want to know more check out Thelonious Funk Sessions & Thelonious Funk’s Monthly Report on deeprhythms.com. Shameless plug.

The Tall Experience
What are your favorite/annoying or most frequently asked Tall questions and quotes.
The obvious… Do I play sports?

Do you find shopping hard or easy?
Jeans are a nightmare for me to find. Ugh…

What are your favorite stores or brands?
Crossroads, Nordstorm’s or any place that has something that might work for me.

Favorite brand of jeans, shirts, shoes?
Never get caught up on labels. I just find what looks good on me because most brands/ stores assume that I do not like good clothes. LOL!

What kind of car do you drive?
I’m in the city. No need for a car.
