How I wore a skirt backwards and got away with it…

December 29, 2013

Hello Tallistas,

Today I attended a day party. Day parties are lots of fun and can be fun to dress up for. The main character of today’s look was a midi-length skirt I purchased from Purely Fashion (purelyapp.com) by Nashona. Purely Fashion is primarily an online source with an occasional pop up shop. They also have an app that allows you to purchase designer duds from your favorite designer(s) and/or discover new designers.

Nashona is a clothing retailer here in the US (located in Goldsboro, North Carolina) and is made in Tanzania, Africa. If my memory serves me correctly all items are made in Tanzania including the clothing and jewelry. I purchased a pencilish-midi skirt and received a full length A-Line skirt as a Christmas gift and I love them both.

Bellow is a picture of the front and back of the pencilish-midi skirt purchased from Purely Fashions pop up shop here in Chicago. You can still purchase this skirt or other colorful/creative patterns online or directly from Nashona if you’re in North Carolina. The price of the skirts ranged from $139  $179 per skirt.

The skirt you see in the picture above is one of Nashona’s pieces. It is long enough for me at 6’0 to wear as a midi (a skirt that goes past your knees and stops midway to your calf muscle) from my hip or as a high waisted pencilish skirt from my waist (smallest part of my waist). The patterns are so fun and versatile that you can wear the skirt backwards as I did. The first picture is of the front of the dress and the second is of the back of the dress. Please excuse the poor lighting of the second picture.

I channeled my inner Latina and put this look together. All I needed was Salsa music playing in the background to compliment it.

This look was achieved by turning the Nashona skirt backwards and by pairing the skirt with a halter crop top ($30-$36) in white from American Eagle and a black cotton belt from American Eagle (originally $16 but is currently 50% off).

Hope you like it.
