As you prepare for the 2014 Chicago Auto Show enjoy pictures of sports cars, sedans and SUV’s exhibited during the 2013 show. Last year, 6’6″ surreal artist Alex Puryear and I enjoyed testing out sports cars, a sedan or two and a handful of SUV’s to determine if the cars comfortably accommodated the height of a tall male or female. We were looking for spacious leg & head room, a usable back seat usage, speed, power, etc. Why? Simple. Conceptually, everyone wants what they can’t have or in this case can barely fit in. It’s the reason you see short men in oversized SUV’s even if they can barely reach the steering wheel or see over it and tall men stuffed like a grape leaf in a sports car while sitting somewhere in the back seat just to accommodate their height. Talk about the redistribution of height.
Our favorite and most spacious ‘sports car’ was the Audi RS 5. The best sedan for a man 6’6″ or taller was the Buick LaCrosse and the most spacious SUV was the GMC Denali.
The Cadillac sports car was not built with a Tall in mind.
Follow me on social media to get the inside scoop on what we find as we test out sports cars today. We will be using the Tall Card to determine which sport cars and SUV’s are our top picks.
