Bulls Guard Dwyane Wade and Naked Brand Group Present Wade X Naked Collection

As one of the more fashion forward of today’s athletes, Chicago Bulls Guard Dwyane Wade has officially embarked on his next endeavor by way of men’s “innerwear”. Utilizing his unique fashion sense and business acumen, the official roll-out of his own collection with Naked began at Chicago’s Nordstrom located on Michigan avenue. With many of the brand’s investors being from Chicago, the NBA star’s relocation from Miami to Chicago couldn’t have made the timing for the launch any more ideal.

Spending every year of his career preceding this season with the Miami Heat, holding mostly all the franchise’s statistical records, winning three championships and making numerous all-star appearances, Wade eventually made the call to come home as he recognized the value of his name, and the benefit of coming home to the Chicago Bulls who see his value as well. Naked, like the Bulls, shared a similar vision and wouldn’t let the opportunity to sign Wade slip past them. Focusing on high-end men’s underwear, Naked is confident Wade can lead them to a level of prominence in the midst of a highly competitive market.

Recalling the days of baggy clothes and even suits in his earlier years in the league, Wade among many other players have come a long way. Stating he wants to one day dress a person from head to toe in the ‘Wade’ collection, he has slowly, but surely been delving deeper into fashion, initially through accessories such as his sock line with Stance, ties with Tie Bar, and now underwear with Naked. Admitting to having a hired stylist for his more complete looks who is constantly helping him push past the comfort zone, it’s interesting to note Wade’s eagerness to point out how reserved he had been for so long.

Speaking from personal experience as a taller model, I can definitely relate to Wade’s stories of him not being the most comfortable pushing his own personal boundaries/insecurities with regard to his body/physique and how it related to his fashion sense. My belief was that I stood out enough in public, so I didn’t need to do anything else to try to bring attention to myself. Eventually realizing that life and the tension spans of critics were too short to be living with crippling apprehension allowed me to venture into the realm of fashion, and likely was the case with Wade as well.
