Ann Taylor TALL Fashion Event – Video & Photo’s

Did you know Ann Taylor has a Tall section?

To my surprise many Tall women I’ve spoken with were unaware of this hidden gem of Tall arsenal.

Unfortunately, Ann Taylor’s tall clothing is only available online. Nonetheless, there is a slight upside. This leads me to a ‘Tall Tip of the Day’ I shared on J. Enovy’s Tall District social media pages.

TALL Tip: Call Ahead (shared on December 3, 2013)
Call the store in advance to ask if they have any Tall items in store from returns. Why? Tall people order clothing online and return them in store often. Many stores keep the returned item(s) in stock. Their returned item can be your next new purchase; an informed purchase given you get to try it on in store and a cheaper purchase given you don’t have to pay for shipping and handling.

Note: This tip works best with stores like Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, The Gap, J. Crew, etc.

For the record, I totally understand your frustration as a shopper. As a Tall woman when you walk into a store you ask a series of infamous questions like “Does this come in Tall,” or “What is the inseam of this pant/jean/dress” followed by “Do you have anything for Tall women,” and you are constantly faced with disappointment. The biggest disappointment of them all is when they say, “Yes, we have Tall clothing.” How is that disappointing? It is disappointing when they follow that statement up with “However, it is only available online.” Talk about Nightmare on Tall Street.

P.S. – Don’t you wish clothing labels showed the inseam of the pant. This would be such a time saver.

Nonetheless, I have channeled this frustration into something positive for the greater good of Tallistas. 

This past fall/winter Ann Taylor and J. Enovy’s Tall District collaborated and created an event specifically for Tall women. During this Tall fashion event Tallista’s were able to shop the Ann Taylor winter collection in Tall. They were also treated to a fashion show of sorts where 5 Tall models that I styled using the Ann Taylor winter collection gave the audience great ideas on how to pair as well as mix and match various pieces from the collection. I also made it a point to mix staple Tall items with items normally available in store for the average height woman. Staple items such as Pants, blouses with long enough sleeves, dresses in Tall, and so forth were paired with cardigans, 3/4 length sleeve blouses, etc., and accessories. Have you visited an Ann Taylor lately. Don’t sleep on Ann Taylor accessories or their clothes for that matter. Someone actually mistook my Ann Taylor bracelet for a Cartier Diamond love bracelet  How cool is that? I’ll take that compliment any day. Guests were also treated to champagne cocktails (Tallista and Tall Taylor), a mocktail (Bare Legs), and a raffle.

FYI – Corporate actually shipped pants, blouses, dresses, skirts, and jackets in Tall that are normally only available online. In addition, neighboring Ann Taylor stores within the Chicagoland area sent all of their Tall returns and size 10 and 11 shoes to the Ann Taylor flagship store on Michigan Avenue (600 N Michigan Avenue) which is located next door to one of my go to stores for long inseam jeans for men and women, Levi’s. 🙂
