Car Review: Jeep Wrangler

September 28, 2014

Today may be one of the last days of warmth here in the Midwest which means it may be one of the last days we can drop our tops or open our sun roofs.

Don’t have a top to drop or sun roof to open? No worries. Let’s take a look at one of 2014’s hottest summer trends, the Jeep Wrangler.

Is the Jeep Wrangler a car we Tall’s can be comfortable in?

I put this question to the test while visiting Atlanta. After an intense work out with my childhood friend (hence the work out clothing I’m pictured in below) we stopped by the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership located at 1251 Thornton Road.

Many thanks to Rashen Bentor. Rashen patiently answered all of my questions and understood my needs and concerns as a tall person. He even took a few pictures for me

The Jeep Wrangler is truly an adventurers car. I took the Wrangler for a spin and the kid in me jumped for joy. It’s an earthy ride. What do I mean by that? I can feel the road, hear the engine roar, and enjoy my hair blowing in the wind.

I especially loved the need to step up and into the car as opposed to squatting and slouching drastically to get into the vehicle. A move we Tall’s are very familiar with.

Next up, my legs. Did they fit? Yes and no. Unfortunately, upon entering the vehicle I was a bit disappointed that the seat did not recline further because many of my followers, both men and women, are taller than 6’0″. While my legs fit, I would caution talls to strongly consider the implications and alternatives. Lucky for me I was able to move the steering wheel up to accommodate my legs.

Can anyone sit behind a Tall person in a Jeep Wrangler? Sorry. Unless they are short or a smaller child the answer is no.

How’s the head room? Pretty good. It’s even better when the top is down.

Tall Pro’s
– Spacious head room with or without convertible top
– Leg room for individuals 6’1 and shorter
– You don’t have to do yoga to get in the car. Step up and in, then sit.
– You pick the top (no top, soft top, or hard top)

Tall Con’s
– Leg room not ideal for individuals 6’2″ and taller
– No one can sit behind you
– It takes a lot of work to remove the doors, tops, etc. A second person is needed.
**Fortunately, there is a machine that you can buy for your garage that will do all of the work for you.

P.S. – The Jeep Wrangler put the Utility in SUV so it’s perfect for all seasons, weather and terrain. I watched a Jeep Wrangler demo and it can get through mud, go up and down steep inclines and declines, trample through snow, etc. See the attached youtube video.
